The day has finally arrived. We welcomed our precious little boy into the world on July 21. Brady Patrick was born at 3:58 p.m. weighing in at 7 lbs 15 oz and 20.25 inches long. He is beautiful and such a laid back little guy so far.
After all they did to try and keep this little fella in all those weeks, now he did not want to come out. So on Wednesday they decided they would induce me. We went in at 6 a.m. and got settled. They started the Platocin around 7:30 a.m. in small amounts. I was only 2 cm dilated when they started the Platocin. By 9:30 I had dilated another 2 cm so Dr. Lyons decided to break my water. WOW...was that a feeling. Always wondered what that would feel like. There were a few stuggles along the way as Brady's heartrate kept taking dramatic drops. My blood pressure also was not the best. So Dr. Lyons suggested getting an epidural to make me relax and hopefully drop my blood pressure. It worked...wow did it work on the pain too. Not sure why I did not want one originally. Dr. Cavallo came on around 1:30 and talked to me about why his heartrate kept dropping. They thought the cord was pinched or around his neck. So they were going to try one more thing and if it did not work, they would have to do a c-section. Well it worked, loosened the cord enough to help keep Brady's heartrate up in order to deliver. So they started the Platocin back up and I went quickly from 6 to 10 cm and was ready to push. Dr. Cavallo came in, we did about 4 rounds of pushing and he was out. We had to stop along the way because the cord had to be cut from around his neck.
Pat was a trooper and watched the whole thing. Pretty amazing!
